From the Award Winning author of The Godhunter Series comes an exciting new Urban Fantasy series!
You may not believe in them, but fairies are real. They live among us, and they're not the pretty little winged women portrayed in cartoons. They're seriously scary, powerful beings who are held in check by an ancient truce and a group of psychic soldiers called the Extinguishers. Seren Sloane is one of these soldiers; trained to keep the peace. But ever since the death of her mother at the hands of fairies, Seren has been a little bitter about her job. That is, until a sexy, fairy warrior challenges her and changes everything.

The author clearly loves what she does and you can tell she did extensive research on her characters and mechanics (which is how I learned how airplanes work from a fantasy novel). You can't please everyone and I'm going to go ahead and say that the book was just okay (to me). I just got lost in the detail. It seemed to go on and on and on and on and on........ which is fine if that's what you're in to, but felt like more concise writing could have gave it more of a sense of urgency. The issues didn't really seem like that big of a deal because the details of the actual plot were over-shadowed by describing every throw pillow, blanket, stone color, and table. When I was a few pages in to the book I had a naughty thought that if this was how descriptive the rooms were I was nervous/anxious to get to anything saucy. But nothing really happened. The relationships (both romantic and otherwise) seemed unconvincing. Which was mildly disappointing. but it was fine. There were good parts and I'm glad that the author chose to share her art with us. I will be reading the first of the Godhunter series to see if it's any different or more to my liking. Like I said, it wasn't awful, but it does drone on a bit with meaningless (at least to me) detail.Product details

FairyStruck The Twilight Court Book 1 eBook Amy Sumida Reviews
I loved Merry Gentry, but this series is better--at least I hope. I read Godhunter and it was pretty awful with a marked lack of plot and too much focus on the sex. But this book is the opposite there is a great plot, awesome characters, lots of in depth research, and great pacing. There is a romance and it does get physical, but it's a romance not smutt. There is more focus on the relationship and conversations than raunchy sex. It was a great book and I can't wait to read the rest of the series.
I found this book on a Goodreads thread and decided to take the plunge. For a Fae novel, this one stands apart - creating a whole new world and Court wrapped around the myths and legends that we all know so well. While playing on the new theme and setting new rules, it still harkens back to tried and true when it comes to Fairy Tales, solidyfying the scaffolds that have carefully formed this genre.
Overall engaging and entrancing, it moves forward at a steady clip - even though there are times when the narrative runs ragged with detail and imagery. The main character is humorous and sassy - just like the heroine of all good Paranormal novels should be, though at times she did come across as flat and one sided (ironic for someone supposed to be immersed in the in-between). Her growth, at this point, is more forced than focused, yet I am eager to see how the author fleshes her out (and the other characters) in the next book.
Worth your time.
I loved this book. The world building was amazing, the new take on fairies while still maintaining traditional fairy lore was brilliant, and I adored it. This is the first book I have read from this author and I am in love. The reasons I took away one star first, even though I was enthralled with the world building, some passages seemed to go on way too long with details. What sticks out to me is the passage where she is describing the bathroom in her suite, and I mean, Jesus, nobody needs that much bathroom detail. Other reason I took one star away was because this book didn't really go into RH details. Like, she has a boyfriend, and they are madly in love. There is some mild flirting, but nothing that would suggest she is building a RH. Even if this story doesn't unfold into a RH it is still a great read and would recommend to anybody who loves fairy tales. The magic in this world truly made me smile and made we want to go twirl around outside in tulle.
While the address Twilight Princess made me think of Zelda rather than vampires...lol, I really found this a fun and original read. There's lots of excitement and Seren is an interesting young woman who makes an awesome main character. I really like the transition from Extinguisher to Fairy Princess (that sounds corny but it works), and finding a way to balance those two existences. The ideas of what is good and what is bad is not _too_ preachy but a good reminder to look at individuals rather than the whole and being judgmental. (Good timing for that). That's a long discussion right there. Seren makes mistakes and owns up to them, and realizes how much she needs to learn. The romance is convincing, and I like the secondary characters as well. Recommend.
Crazy amount of information all shoved into one book. Wish it would’ve progressed a little slower to be given a chance to really get to know the characters. Yes it’s a great story line just too fast paced for me. There seemed to be more emphasis placed on how everything looked rather than the flow of the story. Plus it’s disappointing that the story ended at 74% of the book with the rest being sneak peeks of other books.
This was a good story but could have been a great story with more characterization, it felt more like the author was telling the story as opposed to making the reader live the story. It did have a few good surprise elements and wasn’t your normal teenage angst story about a whiny main character not understanding why things are happening to them. That being said, I did think that Seren acted young for her age and that she accepted the revelations and changes too easily. Where was the conflict? Where was the drama associated with the discoveries she found?
I did enjoy the start of her journey to self discovery and dealing with a new family that doesn’t want her around. There were humorous moments but definitely needed more conflict and chemistry between her and Tiernan. Overall a decent start to a new series.
